Fishing for pike with soft lure

Soft lures are both practical and economical for pike fishing. They can be used all year round and are suitable for all types of water. However, to obtain results, it is necessary to know how to adapt the setting and to choose the elements to use. Here are some tips.

What is a soft lure?

A soft lure is a plastic bait, shaped like a small fish and used to seduce prey. It is animated by the fisherman, so that it mimics the movement of a vulnerable fish to attract the attention of the predator. It exists in different types. There is the soft Shad lure which is the best known and most used to catch pike. It is a stocky fish with a caudal bib tail. It emits an excellent vibration and is easily animated. The other model is the soft comma lure, which consists of a tail in the shape of a sickle. It is appreciated for its ease of use.

How is the setting for pike fishing with a soft lure carried out?

The setting of a soft lure can be done in different ways. You can choose the Texan lead-head assembly. In this case, a Texas-type hook and a cone-shaped lead must be used, and the latter slides along the wire. With this type of setting, the hook tip can be inserted into the lure. It is also possible to slightly pull it out so that there are fewer snags. For other equipment, a rod with a power M to MH is required. A reel with a high ratio is also necessary. For the line, a monofilament made of fluorocarbon should be used. It is more advantageous because it is sensitive and resistant to abrasion. Please note that the Texan assembly is suitable for crowded areas.
There is the carolina setting, which is a variant of the Texan montage. Unlike the latter, a small swivel is used to block the sliding lead. With this process, the lure is animated in a gliding way. In general, this type of mounting is compatible for covering ground. It is also very effective in seducing fish by moving the lead ball.
To increase the chances of catching pike, a pallet shad can be used as a decoy. It is also possible to use another model by replacing its tail with a rotating blade. The choice of style and size of this element varies according to the intensity of the vibration required.

How is the fishing action carried out?

Fishing for pike with soft lures is very simple. The boat must be placed on bottoms 15 to 20 meters deep. To start, you must throw the lure far away in the direction of the shoreline. The rod should be placed 45 degrees upwards. To bring the lure closer to the boat and to adapt it to the slope, the rod must be pulled and released several times. This is necessary to create a wide and fast animation.
