Fishing Sea Bream with Soft Lures

Fishing Sea Bream with Soft Lures

The sea bream feeds mainly on mollusks, crustaceans and annelids (worms). It is therefore advisable to use lures resembling mud worms such as lugworm or jumbo. Given the small size of these lures and the legendary mistrust of bream, it will be necessary to opt for ultra-light equipment in order to animate the lure to perfection. However, we must be careful not to lose the battle against a bream that will try to reach the rocks.
In order to increase your chances of taking a sea bream, you should opt for an animation of the "scratchy" type. That is, the lure must be placed at the bottom, or as close as possible, and it must be animated with very small strokes of the scion to make it wriggle on the bottom of the water. You can fish for sea bream but also for old, yellow places or pout.
This fishing is made for lovers of ultra-light fishing which makes fighting much more tedious and fun.

Mounting

As with soft lure fishing, it is a matter of putting a leader of about 25/30 hundredths and a length between 1.20 and 1.70m. It is necessary to have a leaded head as light as possible but it is necessary to be able to fish on the bottom. You should opt for fishing in quiet places in calm weather. Thus, leaded heads between 3 and 10 grams will be more suitable.
Another method called wacky-worming consists of pricking the hook directly into the middle of the worm in order to amplify the worm's movements with each small pull. A small lead buckshot can be added just before the hook to increase the casting.

Material

Rod
In order to feel the slightest jolt of the lure on the bottom and to be able to animate it correctly, it is advisable to fish very finely. Thus, you can choose a rod 3-10 grams at most 15 grams.
Reel
You can choose a fixed drum reel (the most classic reels) in size 2000.
Nevertheless, the new generation casting reels have many advantages. These are rotating drum reels where the fisherman is in direct contact with the lure. They allow a better animation and a much more intense fight.
Line
For maximum discretion, you should opt for a fine and solid braid, therefore of good quality. A braid in 10 hundredths will do the trick. You can feel your lure and animate it on the bottom like a little worm.
You will need a discreet but also quite solid leader. A fluorocarbon yarn in 30 hundredths should be enough. You can even opt for a finer yarn to increase your chances. However, you will have to be skilled on recovery and play with the brake to avoid breaking your line.
