When you do not know where to find bass, it’s better to fish from the surface and go deeper and deeper.
Fishing for sea bass on the surface
The bass will be able to swim to the surface if it does not need to cross layers of water with very different temperatures. For this to happen, the weather must have been stable over the last three days. When fishing on surface, you must be in an area and at a time when food is sufficiently abundant, i.e. between early summer and early fall. Finally, the water should not be too transparent or too flat. Surface catch are the most intense because you see the fish following and then attack the lure.
Fishing for sea bass between two waters
The bass usually stays at the bottom to feed, but when the bottoms isnât enough, the bass move their hunting grounds between two waters. For the bass to find its interest, the biotope must be a source of abundant food. The bass usually finds its happiness in rocky systems or sandbanks, and it will often be relocated where the swell breaks. Therefore, it is necessary to fish with lures that allow you to reach specific depths and swimming fish are ideal for this.
Fishing for sea bass at depth
Most of the time, you will have to go and get the bass in the bottom. This will be the case as soon as the bass does not feel safe, as when weather and climate conditions are changing, extreme. It is more difficult to reach the bottom from the edge with hard lures. However, some hard bib lures have swimming depths of up to 10 meters. Otherwise, it will be necessary to switch to the flexible lure with a leaded head.Â
Setting:
A lead must be attached to the braid with a connection knot. In order to avoid making knots each time the lures are changed, which can be tedious if the wind is from the side, a clip can be attached to the end of the lead (See knot).Â
Material
Rod:
Any fisherman will say that the lighter the equipment, the more fun and, above all, the better the fishing. If you want to fish for a while without cramping, it is therefore advisable to use a fairly light rod (300gr) with a casting power of between 10g and 40g. Throwing power refers to the optimal weight of the lures that you can throw with your rod. This way you will be able to throw lures weighing between 10 and 40 grams better. The length of the rod should not be too long, otherwise the lure will no longer be animated properly. Beyond 2m50, it will become more complicated for you. Reel: For a pleasant fishing, you also need a suitable reel. A 4000 or 3000 is enough. Line: For a smooth throw, effective animation and a pleasant fight, you can take 13/100th line which will be more than enough. Don't forget to put a 30/100th of a load of fluorocarbon leader to improve discretion and to put a little elasticity in the line so as not to lose the fish when fitting. Lure Surface: Popper, prop bait pencil popper, stick bait, slider, In depth: jerk bait, long bill minnow, Minnow, lipless minnow, shads, plugs, slugs
